Merry Christmas 2012

Well it's that time of year again . Wow how this year has flown by. Well this has been the best year of my life as we welcomed our son Alex to the world. It has been the best 8 weeks of my life. So excited to celebrate Christmas this year as a family. How much does your perspective on life change when you have a baby. He's been such a blessing and such a good boy .
It's time to show you my annual Christmas card. I have stuck to the traditional red and green using cherry cobbler and gumball green to match this years dsp. I promise that next year I will challenge myself with another colour combo for Xmas. Just add inks last challenge for the year is to add Christmas so click here to join in

Nappy Cake

Hi,
Well being a new mum at the moment my life has become a world of 4 Hour intervals planing my day around feeding my bub and what i can get done in the down time while he is asleep. I seem to be managing keeping the house work in check and having some extra time to myself until he's a little more active.
I have had the time this week to put together this nappy cake which i am going to give as a gift for a friend who had her baby this week.
I have searched the web for ideas and had a look at how a friend of a friend who does these for a business while shes on maternity leave.  Its not that hard you just need to be creative in what to put in your cake teirs. I have put this together very simply with some over supply of baby stock that i have received cause you dont need 50 bibs and wraps which is what i have from presents i received from family and friends.. I just have to finsh it off and wrap up in some celophane

Just Add Ink Challenge # 145

 Hi,
Its been a while since I've had the chance to take a little time with a card and not just whip one up in 5 min. Its been about 5 weeks since ive had the chance to update my blog as ive been busy learning how to become Mum. We have got little Alex in a pretty good routine already and we are only getting up 2am for a feed. So im getting sleep just in 2 blocks.
Any way ,this card  I have made for a friend who had her baby last week. I have made the card to match a nappy cake that i have also made for her which you can check out in another post.

So i have picked these colours to match the toy Elephant in my nappy cake. Very Vanilla , Early Espresso and Buckaroo Blue (trying to use up some of my old stuff). again most of my card is made from leftovers from other cards so that im not using up all the stuff that i have (so much unopened DSP). Anyway i have used this weeks Just add Ink Sketch Challenge for my card.

bassinet sheets

Hi

this is the last post i promise of the things that i have made. i have made a some bassinet sheets. there is a lot of stuff to buy with a new baby and there in a bassinet for such a short time it made more sense to make them out of material that i already had rather than buy some

basket liners and dummy clip

hi.
One thing i have learnt about setting up my nursery is that you need lots of storage for little things to make it easier to organise.

But there is some easy ideas to make it a little more fun. I have made matching basket liners out of this fun material that i picked up at spotlight. I have aslo whippwd up this dummy clip with a few supplies you can get from spotlight and some stampin up grogran ribbion

Baby towel/burb rags

hi,
Here are some ideas to jazz up boring old nappies that you may use for face wshers or burbing rags when your out and about with your bub. I have made some with left over material and some hand towels that i got cheap enough from Big W and also some cloth nappies

Tummy time blankets

Hi,
These are great for either a cot quilt or I'm going to use them from tummy time blankets. Spotlight always have a great selection of cot panels with matching material for the back. I usually make one of these for my close friends who are expecting as they do end up costing about $50 to make but its about the personal touch . This years cot panels were just gorgeous and i had trouble picking what i wanted as they had more fun panels to pick from . Last year i remember it was very boy or girl orientated which made it hard if i had to make a blanket for someone who did not know what they are having (like me) but this year they had heaps more variety
These are the two i picked a Jungle theme and a Noah's ark theme

Baby Wraps with matching Hats

Hi,
As promised i am uploading all the things that i have hand made for my upcoming bubba. As i dont know what we are having alot of the the things i have had to make have had to be netural .
Here is some of the things that i made today. I have made some cotton wraps as bubba will be a summer baby so cotton will be just perfect. i got the idea to make matching hats from this website, i just hope that they fit. I tried really hard to make the edge of the wraps with bias tape but it was just taking to long and i had trouble stiching cause of the stretch in the material. as you will soon work out my sewing is very novis.

Freshly Made Sketches #54

Hi,

Well I've  had a pretty relexing week hanging out at home on my first week of Maternity leave. just counting down the days till our little bubba arrives has given me time to be creative. I must admit i have spent the week doing alot more sewing, making  little hats and wraps ,blankets and jazzing up spew rags which i will post some pics.
But i needed a card to say thank you for a gift i received from a friend of my mums ,
As much as its fun to use new things it seems that we all have a collection of retired stuff that just sits there and gathers dust.  This card that i have made i have used a whole bunch of stuff that i had lying around , The DSP that i used hadn't even been opened. I have used this weeks Freshly Made Sketches Challenge for my cards inspiration . this is the first time that i have made a paper flower , I have used scallop circle punches to make my flower.
